RSA-NGA (0:1) Take 2, Game in Review

Goal Scorer Ike Uche

First off, we kept our sheets clean. Woo-hoo! What a game! Enough has been said about the craptaculous pitch that the players had to endure, so I’ll say no more.

My question is, “Did the Bafana Bafana really deserve to lose?” Probably not, which diminishes a bit my joy at this win. I am of the school that enjoys spirited matches where teams come hungry to take home the win, and anyone could tell that the Eagles were not hungry for it. They went through the motions and managed to best a team that they were technically superior to anyways.

A moment of brilliance from Ikechukwu Uche netted us all three points, and I was pleasantly surprised to see Dele Aiyenugba handle himself superbly, coming up with a couple of world class saves. We still have troubles in the midfield, as evidenced by the constant headaches South Africa were giving us.

The bottom line: We got the win. Coach Amodu is content, so why shouldn’t I be? We’re up against the Leone Stars at home next. Predictions?

A good victory for Nigeria. They have still never lost a competitive match to South Africa. Glad Uche got the goal as he is one of my two favorite Nigerian players along with Taiwo. I would expect a victory against Sierra Leonne. Nigeria doesn’t lose at home in World Cup qualifiers. They don’t draw either except of course for the crucial match against Angola last time around. Despite the bad Nations Cup performance earlier in the year I think Nigeria are on a mission. They want to show they are still the class of the continent when it comes to the World Cup.

Nigeria took care of business very early!

I think that they wont have many problems in qualifying this time. All they have to do is keep the good form.
